Speech therapy for toddlers and preschoolers

At Eastside Speech Solutions we see a large number of very small children with little or no speech.  We know how to provide effective and fun therapy in clinic for your toddler or preschooler and we can help you to learn techniques to help you facilitate your child's speech at home.

Therapy for for school aged children

It is extremely important that children can say all their sounds correctly by the time they start kindergarten so they do not get confused when learning phonics.  Incorrect pronunciation can impact their reading development as well as their ability to be well understood and can undermine their ability to participate in the playground as well as the classroom.

Speech therapy for Adults

While Eastside Speech specialises in children's therapy, we also see a large number of adults. We provide friendly and professional assessments and individualised therapy sessions to help you confidently achieve your full potential.

Stuttering therapy

Stuttering is a speech disorder in which sound, syllables or words are repeated or prolonged disrupting the natural flow of speech. It is not a psychological problem or due to anxiety, stress or poor parenting. The nature of the treatment we recommend will be based upon a person's age, communication goals and other factors.

Literacy, Reading and Spelling

At Eastside Speech we provide individualised programs to help children with literacy problems. These programs include a thorough assessment to determine the nature of your child's difficulty.  Therapy at Eastside Speech is fun, addressing the underlying challenges your child is having with reading and spelling.

We provide you with the resources to do home practice so your child can make the greatest gains possible and become more confident at school, play and in social situations.

Therapy for Children with Special Needs

Helping children with special needs requires therapists with not only terrific skills but also positivity, practicality and empathy.  Our staff at Eastside Speech have all worked extensively with children with special needs. We help children with a variety of diagnoses, intellectual disabilities and rare genetic disorders including cerebral palsy, Down's Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Delay, Autism and hearing impairment.

Speech Therapy for Problems Resulting from Stroke or Injury

The journey to speech and language recovery begins with release from hospital.  Once a patient is well enough to live at home, outpatient therapy with someone like Eastside Speech Solutions can help reinforce and build on the communication skills developed in rehabilitation. The staff at Eastside have had years of experience working in stroke and brain injury rehabilitation settings and know how to work with patients, family and carers to compassionately and effectively develop communication strategies.

Prompt® Therapy

Traditional speech therapy relies on clients being able to imitate sounds by copying what they see and hear.  This works well when the patient has normal muscle movements and tone and is easily able to copy sounds. PROMPT® therapy builds a client's speech without relying on their ability to copy what they see and hear.

Accent Modification

Being easily understood is crucial to your work and social life. Many people find they are unable to progress in their career because people have difficulties understanding their accent.  They are frustrated that they need to say things a number of times before being understood or that they are overlooked for promotion.

At Eastside Speech we have a number of adults who come to seek assistance in improving their foreign accent.

Preschool Screenings

Eastside Speech provides FREE Speech and Language screenings to preschools in our local area. It takes a maximum of 10 minutes per preschooler.  The screener looks at how children are saying words and sounds as well as their comprehension/expression of language.  Each parent receives a short report indicating if their child's performance is what is expected for their age, or if further evaluation is recommended.

This is a great service that you are able to offer the children at your preschool centre.
